PCC support SMCC Sportive Featured

SMCC Lisburn hosted their charity cycle on Sunday which attracted riders from all over Ulster. The event was supported by Lisburn City Council and was to raise money for The Parkview Special School in Lisburn and the Dame Mary Peters Trust in Belfast. Dame Mary came along to get the event off to a good start and everyone was delighted to see her taking time out from her busy schedule to wave the riders off. She also had the privilege of meeting our Chairwoman Ruth Mason and Vice Chairman Davy Moore. Also in attendance was the mayor of Lisburn Castlereagh, Councillor Thomas Beckett. They both thanked and congratulated all the participants and spoke of the work of the two charities. Many of Ulster's young cyclists have benefited over the years from grants awarded by the Mary Peter's Trust.

McCann Cup Featured

Omagh Wheelers CC promoted the McCann Cup for 2016 on Sunday 6th March. The event has been the clubs long standing flagship event for many years and was once again organised and sponsored by club stalwart Hugh McCann who instils his passion and enthusiasm in the event. Renowned for its great racing, atmosphere and food, it’s always regarded as one of the best races in Ulster.
The event featured five races across the day: women, masters (50+), A4, A3, A2 & A1. The event attracted approx 300 cyclists across all five races and the racing was as always fast and furious. The McCann Cup course was used to host the 2013 All-Ireland Junior & A3 RR Championships.
The 10 mile circuit started and finished just outside the village of Fintona and PCC were represented by Glyn, Matt & Christopher who all finished in the top 15 places.
Well done to the guys and to Omagh Wheelers for a great day's racing.

Duathlon Series 2016

On Sunday 14th February six members of Portadown Cycling Club entered the first race of Lisburn Triathlon Club’s Duathlon Series at the Down Royal Racecourse.

The successful SERE Duathlon series is now in it’s 3rd year and this year saw the return to competition of some of our experienced multi sports members. We also had some members competing in their first Duathlon.

Our members challenged themselves to the 2 Mile Run / 10 Mile Cycle / 2 Mile Run course along with just over 100 other competitors.

Thanks to Lisburn Triathlon Club for a very well organised and marshalled race and especially for the warm soup after on what was a very chilly morning.

The next race in the series is on Sunday 20th March.
